Control Techniques Completes Insourcing Project
Control Techniques, a Nidec brand, has successfully brought production of one of its most famous products back to the UK. Now, Control Techniques’ Commander general purpose drives will be produced entirely at the organisation’s UK manufacturing headquarters in Newtown, Wales. Previously, while designed in the UK, the drives were manufactured using a third-party in Asia.

The Welsh Government have put together an "Apprenticeship Week Toolkit" to support, and celebrate, the Apprenticeship Programme in Wales. Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF) launches next Phase 1 funding opportunity
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), in collaboration with Innovate UK, has today launched the next opportunity to bid for funding from the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF).
We recently announced our intention to hold another Phase 1 competition window this spring due to the large amount of interest we have received.
Thirty nine applications from the first Phase 1 competition window, totalling £31 million, have been approved for funding subject to final due diligence checks. Details of successful awards will be published in due course.

International Trade has unveiled a new online tool
The Department for International Trade has unveiled a new online tool on GOV.UK which is a go-to source of information for UK exporters. The tool provides product-specific and country-specific information in one place, which helps to save businesses time and makes it easier for them to understand the changes that came into effect on 1 January 2021.
Apprentice Recruitment Incentives
As part of the Welsh Government’s £40 million skills and jobs fund, we are introducing financial
incentives to encourage the creation of up to 6,000 apprenticeships. Any employer in Wales,
regardless of size or sector, can benefit from the four new apprenticeship incentives, which will run
from 1 August 2020 to 28 February 2021.
£4m research funding boost for Welsh manufacturing sector
Manufacturing businesses across Wales can remain at the forefront of innovation, thanks to £4 million of EU funding announced by the Welsh Government.
The extra support will build on the success of Wales’ top higher education Institutions industry-led research partnership by extending the ASTUTE 2020 (Advanced Sustainable Manufacturing Technologies) operation.
