VETHUB1
Through VetHub1 researchers will work with industry to develop new and improved products and services in support of the animal health industry across the UK.
Providing high-level containment laboratory facilities (CL2 and CL3) for working with pathogenic micro-organisms, researchers will also be looking at developing solutions for animal borne diseases that could pass to humans.
VetHub1 is an EU-backed Innovation Cluster set in the heart of the Aberystwyth University campus, with access to world leading academic expertise and state of the art laboratory equipment.
Research within the new facility will extend to working alongside the CIEL supported Small Ruminant Platform, similarly part of Aberystwyth University’s Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS).
Ahead of launch, expected Spring/Summer 2021, the VetHub1 team are busy developing a strategy to offer veterinary services for pathogen detection where existing capability cannot meet demand, contributing to a national resiliency network assisting veterinary practices and farmers. Companies will additionally benefit from the provision of up-skilling training of laboratory staff in safe working practices within CL2 and CL3 laboratories. The use of VetHub1 services will also support the future development and current implementation of local and national Government strategies/policies.
