Fogging and Virucidal Cleaning - Covid 19

With increasing Covid cases in the region we have been discussing cleaning and recovery options with Adapt, a commercial cleaning company based in South Wales employing over 350 people.  They  have a range of clients spreading through Powys and up to Mid / West and North Wales and across the M4 corridor.

Their portfolio of cleaning services has recently grown to include various Covid responses.  These include reactionary fogging and virucidal cleaning where there have been confirmed or suspected cases and they have become approved contractor of both the Mid and West Wales Fire Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service through the pandemic.

James Jones, Adapt Business Services Limited said “In addition to the standard cleaning specification we have implemented additional specialist daily sanitisation at many sites due to the current COVID-19 outbreak.  This specialist sanitisation is being carried out by an additional staff member over and above the regular cleaning schedule where practical.  For this specialist sanitisation we use a virucidal chemical.”

The Virucidal chemical used is rated to EN 14476, a virucidal standard. Any product with this standard is certified to kill enveloped viruses such as COVID-19.  In addition, EN 14476 products are also certified to be effective against Norovirus.

We asked James which areas needed special attention:-

“During our daily sanitisation tasks include the following touch points:

 -Door knobs and handles

-Light switches

-Chairs & tables in canteen / breakout space

-Fridge handles

-Cupboard handles

-Sinks / and other bathroom fixtures including dispensers

-Water fountains and coolers

-Vending machines

-Desk tops and table tops

-All dispensers (soap / sanitisers etc.)

-Main Reception area

-Hand Rails (internal and external)

-Any other touch points around your site.

Due to government guidelines recommending more frequent cleaning we are keeping this sanitisation separate from the normal daily cleaning.”

Adapt have also provided their recent training document issued to all staff during this COVID-19 outbreak and their Covid-19 Risk assessments, if you would like a copy please email sam@mwmg.org
