New packaging requirements for France & Italy

Every single consumer product in France and Italy, now requires additional information on packaging so Retailers cannot accept non-compliant products and fines are substantial for those selling without compliance - so it’s important for UK brands and suppliers to be compliant.

From 9th March 2023, every single consumer product in France and Italy is required by law to display additional information on packaging. Retailers cannot accept non-compliant products and the fines are substantial for those selling without compliance.
All packaging must have the triman logo with two exceptions :
- If the packaging has been produced before the 9th of September 2022
- If the person responsible for packaging goods has bought or acquired the packaging before the 9th of March deadline.
Article L.541-9-4 of the Environment Code provides that: "Any breach of the information obligations mentioned in Articles L. 541-9-2 and L. 541-9-3 is liable to administrative fine, the amount of which may not exceed €3,000 for a natural person and €15,000 for a legal person.
