Newtown Charity seeks items to be donated

In 2016 Trehafren Children’s Centre evolved into Magik Incorporated: ‘Managing Activity Groups Involving Kids’ which better reflects the services we provide and is an ‘umbrella’ for all of our provisions, providing the management needed to ensure the quality, consistency and professionalism required to maintain the excellent reputation and services we offer.

Throughout our settings we encourage what is called ‘loose parts play’.

A ‘loose parts’ toy, is open-ended; children may use it in many ways and combine them with other loose-parts through imagination and creativity.

“When children interact with loose parts, they enter a world of “what if” that promotes the type of thinking that leads to problem solving and theoretical reasoning. Loose parts enhance children’s ability to think imaginatively and see solutions, and they bring a sense of adventure and excitement to children’s play”.

“Cheap items like crates and buckets encourage children to be more active and creative then expensive play equipment, researchers have found. The findings are the result of a long-term study into the play difference of primary school children with access to different playgrounds. Introducing simple, everyday objects can cut sedentary behaviour by half, improve creativity and boost social and problem-solving skills”

All we are asking is if you could kindly donate any scrap bits for us to re-use, re-cycle and re-love to help with funding this venture.

We will be recycling all loose parts by reusing them for children’s play, for example beer bottle tops, string and wood to make musical instruments, sandpaper, bark, hessian, cork, corrugated card for making tactile play.

Old Tools Washers, Screws, Nuts & Bolts

Artificial Flowers/Flower Heads/Leaves/Acorns Chalk Board Paint

Metal Components, Springs Cement Rounds

Corks, Cork Placemats, Bottle Tops, Jar Lids Colour Paint Chart Samples

Coloured/Wooden Beads, Broken Necklaces Fruit & Mushroom Trays

Coir/Natural Fibre Hanging Basket Liners Log Slices – all sizes
