A ‘loose parts’ toy, is open-ended; children may use it in many ways and combine them with other loose-parts through imagination and creativity.

Two local entrepreneurs, Nick Evans of EvaBuild and Stuart Owen from Advanced Building Designs, were the latest guest speakers at the Mid Wales Business Networking Event held in Newtown.

Nearly 700 young people from Newtown took part in a series of workshops to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) last week. The sessions had been arranged by Mid Wales Manufacturing Group to support the Futureproofing Engineering Skills Provision in Powys Project which is supported by Powys County Council. 

Member company Cellpath kindly hosted the latest Mid Wales Manufacturing Group Annual General Meeting at their newly expanded premises on Mochdre Industrial Estate. 

The latest Mid Wales Business Networking event was held in Welshpool on Tuesday (22nd January).  The events which are held in conjunction with Business Wales and Mid Wales Chamber of Commerce to be a platform for the businesses of Mid Wales to come together, share information, opportunities, learning and challenges, a forum where the business community, can support each other. 

Mid Wales Manufacturing Group and Myrick Training have been working together closely for a number of years to support the apprenticeship opportunities for manufacturing and engineering companies in Mid Wales.

Mid Wales businesses are being encouraged for their views on the future of the region’s economy and what can be done to boost growth.

On Tuesday Mid Wales Manufacturing Group (MWMG) were pleased to have arranged an informal round table discussion with Dr Gertjan Vlieghe a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England and some MWMG Members.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) is made up of nine members – the Governor, the three Deputy Governors for Monetary Policy, Financial Stability and Markets and Banking, the Chief Economist and four external members appointed directly by the Chancellor.

Mid Wales Manufacturing Group were delighted to take part in the Choose Your Future Powys Careers Festival held on 7th March 2018 at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells.  Around 3,000 pupils from across Powys attended the event.  The interactive careers and skills festival is organised by the Positive Pathways Powys partnership – a multi-agency group made up of Powys County Council, Careers Wales, Secondary schools in the county, the NPTC Group of Colleges, Cambrian Training and the Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations. The partnership aims to highlight to young people the opportunities available to them when they leave school or college.
